Short Plays (approx 30-45mins) Half-Hangit' Maggie When Mussleburgh fishwife Maggie Dickson is hanged for concealment of pregnancy there is a scuffle at the scaffold as the medical students make a bid for her body. However, she is cut down and placed in a coffin. It is a fair cart ride to the cemetery and after a refreshment stop at The Sheep Heid Inn, is it the effect of the ale or is it that Maggie is banging around inside the coffin? Improvised play. Aged 9+ Perseus and The Medusa Improvised play based on the Greek ledgend. A journey of adventure, humourously portrayed with movement sections and suggested music. Improvised play, Aged 8+ MacBeth Adapted from the Shakespeare story, "the Scottish Play". Improvised play, Aged 9+ The Bodysnatchers Improvised play set in Fife. A night in the cemetery is washed down by an ale in the tavern but what really sobers up the revellers are the contents of an old sack rolled into the arena. Spooky, famous story of the bodysnatching exploits to further the medical research of Dr Robert Liston. Improvised play, Aged 9+ Ethel's Tearoom Improvised comedy for smallish group of 10-14 parts. Ethel wins the jackpot at the local Bingo Hall and decides to buy a tearoom in a rather posh part of town. Her friends help out with the waitressing and the cooking although they are by no means experts! Things get very interesting when the Ladies Circle decide to pop in for morning coffee and a fruit scone! Improvised play, Aged 9+ The Death of Jimmy Brown A young man is knocked down and killed. His family is devastated but soon Jimmy is heaven bound and checking in with the angels when his wife Maureen has a crisis. Jimmy is not happy and wants to know about the Reincarnation Programme. A black, farcical, improvised comedy suitable for age 11+ Tam O'Shanter A dramatisation of the famous Burns poem with music, dance, drama and quotations from the poem itself. Age 9/10+ Improvisation and script. The Doll Improvised play set in two different periods of time. A victorian child dies when she tries to rescue her doll which falls from the tower. Many years later a modern family move to the old house and discover the truth about the girl's death. Parts for 15-20 children, Impovisation, Aged 9+ Ghosts of Atlantis Based on the myths of the mysterious city of Atlantis. This improvised script considers a possible fate of the city and its ancient people. A chance discovery by a group of looting pirates awakens the ghosts who seize upon the chance to escape from their watery grave. Fantasy Improvisation, Aged 9+ Next of Pinn Improvised play suitable for about 10-12 children. When a grandmother dies, her selfish family are shocked to find that all her fortune has gone to her builled step-granddaughter. However, there might be a little something for them if they spend one night at the old mansion house. Improvisation, Aged 9+ The Mary Celeste This short play dramatises the famous mystery looking at three possible explanations for what happened. Improvisation, Partial Script, Aged 8+ The Mystery of The Moscow Diamond Bond spoof for younger children. The Bonds go to a desert island to search for this precious diamond but the bad guys are waiting with some serious challenges for them. Aged 6-8. Peter Pan Adaptation of the story with musical suggestions and parts for approx 20 children. Improvisation, Aged 7-10. Aladdin With all the usual characters and an interesting windae hingin' scene (could be adapted for any dialect) Improvisation, Partial Script Aged 8+ Pied Piper Based on the poem, the town of Hamelin is overrun with rats, a terrible problem until the piper arrives. Improvisation Aged 5-7 Cinderella Fun adaptation of the popular story with music suggestions. Improvisation, Aged 6-10
