The Lost City
Three extended lessons for age 8-12. An ancient people suffer a disastrous and terrifying fate when their City is destroyed. This series of lessons asks students to imagine this ancient culture, their beliefs and superstitions and explanations for the tragedy. Into the second section of the topic a very contrasting set of characters discover the City and the looting begins.
A haunting topic with atmospheric suggested music, Key Drama skills mime, movement, configuration, chain-reaction, slow-motion, cross-cutting, role of the expert, ritual, group work, voice-overs and voice work, thought tracking, hot seating and presentation. Students will learn about respect for the past and how to affect the future.
The lessons contain problem-solving and brainstorming opportunities within the improvisation.
