Set in a secret Lapland forest, preparations for Christmas are about to begin and the forest elves want to be selected by Santa for this year's present drop! We meet lots of funny, interesting characters and the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 1 indicates that there is also a perceived danger in this forest and our storyline explores this idea. As a central theme to the story we aim to show that things are not always what they seem and to encourage empathy with characters who are not always terribly popular.
The storyline is introduced to Upper Primary students and importantly is designed so that each class taking part inputs their own unique ideas/character/scenes/ use of effects/ backdrops etc Teachers can use the content to inspire other areas of the curriculum very easily.
The episodes are very simply set out so that the classes can film their scenes after each episode in preparation for the next week's episode. Film has its plus points in that the children can do several takes, use different areas of the room, it's in the here and now and they don't have to worry about remembering lots of lines for a show to a live audience which can be a bit scary for some children.
Full teacher documentation will be provided and links to free/royalty free music and image sites will enable them to add these to their films.

Competition - Optional
We are also running a competition for Upper Primary with 3 Certificate Categories:
1. Most Creative Video - Looking at how the students have created their own version of the story.
2. Best Characterisation - Children love characters so here we're looking at their invention and portrayal of their characters.
3. Best Technical - A chance for any students who have editing skills to shine and show what they can do.
Of course schools could also run their own in-school competition for all classes taking part and select their own categories. The idea is that each class will create a film unique to them but inspired by the supportive structure of the storyline that we will provide.
Children can also rename the story, add their own credits, school name etc based on our template.
The closing date for our competition film submissions is Tues Dec 8th.
Experience tells us that children will rise to the challenge of a competition and enjoy filming for parents and other classes but of course there is no need to film at all - participation in the programme can be just for pure fun.
TEACHERS ONLY NEED BASIC VIDEO EDITING SKILLS AND WE HAVE FOUND THAT VERY OFTEN THERE ARE STUDENTS WHO ARE FAIRLY ADEPT AT DOING IT.
If you are not confident with the video editing then The Drama Studio can edit out your clips for you (see edit fee).
